The El Paso Zoo is looking for people interested in volunteering.

The zoo’s volunteer program is open to people ages 18 and older who are available year-round.

The zoo needs dedicated volunteers, including retired and senior volunteers, who have flexible schedules, can work throughout the week and have year-round availability. A minimum of eight hours a month is needed to volunteer, according to zoo officials.

The zoo is looking for enthusiastic, friendly, dependable individuals who care about animals and environmental conservation.

"It's been an incredible experience here at the zoo," said current zoo volunteer Tom Marsden. "When I retired, I enjoyed my time off, but I still wanted to contribute somewhere. I started volunteering with the zoo, and I've had so much fun. I've had the opportunity to provide tours, help with education presentations, and help zoo staff with event projects. I love it."

The El Paso Zoo is open 362 days a year, and closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
