A fitness program specialized for 55 and older may be coming to your neighborhood
EL PASO, Texas —
Participants get an early start to their Tuesday and Thursday morning for their Physical Fitness of the Golden Age course for 55 and older.
The class takes place at the Gary Del Palacio Recreation Center at Album Park and UTEP.
The program's popularity has led to the program director joining forces with the YWCA to find new locations for expansion.
The program was developed by Sandor Dorgo, a kinesiologist working with UTEP.
UTEP students are essentially personal trainers to the members.
Dorgo said people who have never had a workout routine can be a part of this class can still learn mobility, strength training and flexibility.
According to Dorgo, those who are 55 and older are able and will not be treated as fragile people. However, he does recognize functional limitations.
This course is $99 a semester.
Each semester last 3 months, with 2 sessions a week.
