Chihuahuas to donate money and shirts to Hurricane Harvey victims
EL PASO, Texas (CBS4/KFOX14) —
The El Paso Chihuahuas and the El Paso Chihuahuas Foundation are donating $5,000 to assist in the Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts as part of the MiLB Charities initiative. The money donated will help assist those communities that have been affected.
“We are compelled to stand by our fellow Texans and others so adversely affected by Hurricane Harvey,” said Vice President and General Manager Brad Taylor. “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone suffering through this. Our heartfelt thanks are extended to all first responders and heroes that are tirelessly there to help. We hope that all involved will remain Texas Strong and continue to work together to get through this and to rebuild.”
As a part of the relief efforts, MiLB Charites will match all donations provided by participating minor league teams, up to $10,000.
Additionally, the Chihuahuas have also joined with UTEP Athletics, the El Paso Rhinos and the UTEP Hockey Club, at the request of the University of Houston Head Men’s Basketball Coach Kelvin Sampson, to donate 250 Chihuahuas t-shirts to assist with families who are in need of clothing located in the devastation areas.
