City rep pulls agenda item to cut ties with those contracted to build border wall
EL PASO, TEXAS —
Update: Peter Svarzbein deleted the item from Tuesday's agenda. It is not known when or if the item will be reintroduced at a future meeting.
Some city leaders want to stop El Paso funds going to contractors and vendors who will build the border wall.
West El Paso City Rep. Peter Svarzbein introduced the proposal.
Svarzbein believes this proposal isn't anti-business.
He says it is a way to have a dialogue about values that exist on the border.
The federal government will start taking border wall construction proposals this week.
The meeting starts at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The council is expected to vote on the proposal later in the day.
