Cold case: Teen killed in 2013 hit-and-run
EL PASO, Texas - Crime Stoppers of El Paso is looking to bring a 2013 cold case to a close in which a teen was killed in a hit-and-run on Loop 375.
On June 16, 2013 on Father's Day, Alan Ordonez, 16, was killed after he pulled over to change a flat tire at 2 a.m. police said. The teen was driving a white 2003 Mercury Marquis south when he pulled over.
Investigators believe the driver was southbound in a 2005 to 2009 metallic blue Chevrolet SUV. They believe the vehicle has damage to the right front side tire area.
"Someone has the key that can bring this case to a close," the department said in a news release.
Magdalena Lozano, the victim's mother, tells CBS4 she remembers every detail from the night of her son's death.
"I wanted to die. It was the most terrible thing because I couldn't believe it happened to my son," Lozano said.
She said she went to the scene of the accident and had to give police a description of her son so they could identify him. She said police would not allow her to look at her son's body.
"Just because I was the mother didn't mean I could see him. That's the thing I remember most of that day, that [police] told me that," she said.
Lozano said it is hard not knowing who is responsible for her son's death.
"I hope [police] catch them. How can you live like this without consequence? They left my son there lying on the ground and didn't even try to help."
