Down Syndrome Coalition of El Paso hosts second summer symposium
El PASO, Texas (CBS4) —
An El Paso group is working to raise awareness about down syndrome and the resources that are available for local families.
The Down Syndrome Coalition of El Paso hosted its second summer symposium Sunday afternoon at the Radisson Hotel on Airway Boulevard.
The group invited vendors to come and talk about the services they offer, like therapy sessions.
Felipe Martinez, president of the coalition, said the purpose of the symposium was to let parents know that have support and resources available to them.
“The coalition is not here to ask you or tell you how you should raise your children because as a parent that's our responsibility but you now know that not only do you have resources but you have an army behind you to support you 100 percent,” Martinez said.
Last year, the symposium attracted 250 people.
