El Paso man pleads guilty to child pornography charges
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
An El Paso man pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.
Luis Fernando Moreno was charged with producing and possessing child pornography in January.
Moreno was arrested at an El Paso car dealership, where he worked.
According to the criminal complaint, the incidents happened in Sunland Park, New Mexico.
Sunland Park police officers began the investigation when a 16-year-old claimed that Moreno took cellphone video of her in the shower.
The victim was interviewed by authorities and said she was in an ongoing sexual relationship with Moreno for five years, according to court documents.
The girl said she would have sex with Moreno once a month, and later it happened twice a week, the documents said.
The girl said she felt like she was in a relationship with Moreno and that it was her idea to keep it a secret, the documents said.
Other images and videos of child pornography, involving another minor were also found on his cellphone and laptop computers, the criminal complaint states.
Moreno plead guilty Wednesday to three counts of producing visual depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, federal officials said.
Moreno has been in federal custody since his January arrest. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender when he is out of jail.
