El Paso man mourning the loss of cousin who died in Las Vegas shooting
EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) —
A New Mexican woman is among the victims who died in Las Vegas Sunday night.
Lisa Romero, a high school secretary from Gallup, New Mexico, was there for a concert, when the shots rang out.
Her cousin, Paul Romero, lives in El Paso.
He said he learned about the shooting from social media.
But, he told CBS4 he learned about Lisa’s passing through another family member, Monday morning.
“I felt bad for the people who got killed and the people who got injured,” he said. “And then, I found out from my daughter that my cousin was actually killed in there. It was a shock. It was a total shock to me, because I didn't expect it."
Paul said it is unclear, at this time, if Lisa was alone at the concert, or if she had gone with others.
He told us Lisa will always be remembered by the family as someone who always wore a smile.
"A loving person, always smiling, always happy, I don't think I've ever seen her upset or mad, as far as I can remember,” he said.
He said he is heartbroken by the tragic news.
He said he will continue to keep his family and everyone affected by the shooting, in his thoughts and prayers.
