EPFD battles overnight fire in Lower Valley
EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) —
A fire at a self-storage building in El Paso’s Lower Valley was extinguished early Tuesday.
The fire happened at EP Easy Storage on N. Zaragoza Road, near Billy the Kid Street around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Witnesses reported the fire. When EPFD firefighters arrived at 11:35 p.m. several of the storage units had caught fire, said a fire spokesman.
The crews were able to “knock down” the majority of the fire by 11:50 p.m. but continued checking for extension and hot spots in other units until 12:46 a.m.
Spokesman Carlos Briano said 60 percent of the units had fire damage. They estimate the damage at $165,000.
Briano said the fire originated in one of the units, caused by an electrical short.
No injuries were reported, said Briano.
