Monster Jam is back in the Borderland, and people are gearing up for a fun weekend filled with high flying and car crushing stunts.

Jorge Vazquez, with UTEP Special Events, says it's become sort of a tradition in the borderland. With plenty of people picking up their tickets this week alone, it's looking like it's going to be a sold-out show.

"Every year, it's one of our biggest, if not the biggest event that we have," Vazquez says. "For Saturday, we are sold out and we have over 44,000 people."

With another full house expected on Sunday, that number is expected to climb to nearly 80,000 people filling the Sun Bowl this weekend. Typically, for this type of an event, about 44,000 people can fill the Sun Bowl, so it's possible for both shows to be sold out, Vazquez says.

It's become such a family event. Each year, more and more families seem to make a point to stop by.
"They make it a point to come with their kids," Vazquez says.

Outside the UTEP ticket center, families trickled in to pick up their tickets at will-call. The Mijares family was picking up there tickets and couldn't contain their excitement.

"We can't wait for the stunts and tricks," they said. "We're going to go on Sunday."

Vazquez says that if you've never been, there's still time for you to enjoy the event this weekend. For more information, you can contact the UTEP Ticket Center at 915-747-5234.
