Find the best place to view the Aug 21 solar eclipse

A total solar eclipse will occur on Aug. 21, but residents in the El Paso area will only be able to see a partial solar eclipse.

Vox published a handy tool that will let people know by ZIP code where they have the best chance of viewing the solar eclipse – barring any cloud activity.

According to Vox, the eclipse will peak at 11:46 a.m. for residents in the 79912 area. The moon will obscure about 61.1 percent of the sun.

For residents in east El Paso, the eclipse will peak at 11:48 a.m. and the moon will obscure 61.6 percent of the sun.
