Healthcare website created to meet needs of LGBTQ community

Site went live less than a week ago and has had more than a 1,000 visitors.

A new website has been launched to specifically target the health needs of the LGBTQ community.

The Purple Pages website is an HIV Prevention Community Mobilization project created to connect clients to health services.

It offers culturally sensitive referrals to the LGBTQ community.

According to HIV Prevention Community Mobilization, the site went live less than a week ago and has had more than 1,000 visitors.

The development of Purple Pages began in 2013 because of concerns over cultural insensitivity in healthcare settings for LGBTQ clients.

The site is intended to help reduce disease and to make prevention and testing more appealing.

The site will continually update health care and social services providers.

Funding was provided by a micro grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services and the University of Texas at Austin.
