Margo said mayoral race is about experience and not political parties

Dee Margo

A couple hundred people arrived at Southwest University Ballpark to wait for the mayoral election to be decided.

It was the headquarters for Dee Margo's supporters.

Margo led the mayoral race with 45 percent of the vote.

Margo was ahead of the race against David Saucedo, Jaime O. Perez, Charlie Stapler, Jorge Artalejo, Emma Acosta, Elisa Morales and Willie Cager who were all hoping to take Oscar Leeser's seat as mayor.

Saucedo was in second place with 23 percent of the vote.

Margo said this race wasn't about whether someone is a Republican or a Democrat but rather how much experience the candidates have.

He feels people put their trust in his business background and experience at the state Legislature.

The runoff election between Margo and Saucedo will be held on June 10.
