Missing Tornillo teen's boyfriend person of interest in her disappearance, officials say
EL PASO, Texas —
A 19-year-old girl’s boyfriend is a person of interest to determine her whereabouts, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Angel Marie Avalos, 19, was pregnant when she asked her mother, Monica Avalos, for permission to go to a graduation at Tornillo High School on Saturday, June 3, 2017, according to Monica.
The graduation was the last place Angel was seen. She was eight months pregnant at the time, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“I didn't hear from her and she's not the type of person who would leave and not let me know where she's at. She wouldn't stop calling me,” said Monica.
Angel left with her boyfriend, whose name has not been released by the Sheriff's Office.
“We did not name any suspects because, as of now, we have no crime. There needs to be some proof of death for a murder investigation,” said a Sheriff's Office spokesperson via email.
The boyfriend’s last known place of residence is in Mexico, which makes it difficult for investigators to contact him, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Angel is described the following:
• being 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 140
• pounds, with black hair, brown eyes
• and a birthmark on her cheek
