A 43-year-old man was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds after another man shot him at a small gathering at a far east El Paso home, police said.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday at a home on the 14000 block of Tierra Halcon near Zaragoza Road and Edgemere Boulevard, according to police.

Police said that Hoang Nhut Phan, 50, got into an argument with people at the home, and then left.

When he came back, he fired a handgun into the air before shooting Cuu Van Huynh in the face, stomach and leg, police said.

Huynh was taken to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment.

Phan was held down by guests until police arrived and took him into custody.

Phan faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and was taken to University Medical Center for injuries he received during the incident.

He will be booked into jail on a $75,000 after he is released from the hospital, police said.
