Police investigating stabbing at pool hall
EL PASO, T.X. (CBS4) —
Police are investigating a stabbing that left one man with serious injuries Saturday morning, the El Paso Police Department said.
The stabbing happened at 1:50 a.m. at Pockets Billiards and Fun on the 9400 block of Dyer Street.
Police say the alleged assailant, Alejandro Renteria, 34, became “hostile” toward the victim, Aruturo Ojeda, 37, after servers stopped serving alcohol to Renteria but continued serving to Ojeda.
Renteria was escorted out of the pool hall, before allegedly stabbing Ojeda when he walked out of the building, police said.
Ojeda was transported to University Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
Police say Renteria fled the scene after the stabbing, but he was later located in a vehicle near the Titanic Avenue and Diana Street intersection.
Police arrested Renteria and charged him with Aggravated Assault.
He is being held at the El Paso County Detention Center under a $40,000 bond.
