Update: 18-year-old charged with aggravates assault with deadly weapon after SWAT standoff

Felix Beard was arrested after a SWAT standoff in far east El Paso.

An 18-year-old man was taken into custody after he barricaded himself inside his home for nearly three hours on Monday afternoon.

It happened at 12600 Tierra Alzada Drive near El Dorado High School in far east El Paso.

Police said Felix Beard Jr. was involved in a fight with his brother, Dontavis Shakur Beard, 22.

The 18-year-old locked himself in a bedroom and fired a gun when his brother knocked on the door.

When officers arrived, Felix refused to come out of the home and SWAT members were called to assist.

Police took Felix into custody just before 7:30 p.m.

He was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the El Paso County jail on a $25,000 bond.

Police said Dontavis suffered minor injuries during the fight with his brother.
