The annual Child Abuse Awareness Run/Walk at Yucca Park is happening this weekend.

The event on Saturday remembers those who have been lost to abuse and letting people being abused now know: they're not alone.

It's scheduled to start at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crime Victims Memorial Reading Garden.

The family event is free to the public.

Estrellita Gomez with Project Amistad said drinks and snacks will be provided.

Guest speakers are expected to be at the event, said Gomez.

Lorraine Gomez Director of the Child Crisis Center says if you know or suspect that any child is being abused you are required by law to report it.

You can call the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services at 1-800-252-5400.
