Several events in downtown El Paso could cause parking problems on Friday

Parking garage in Downtown El Paso

Those who complain there is nothing to do in El Paso have plenty of options this Friday.

There are several events taking place in downtown, making parking scarce.

The events taking over downtown include:

•David Blaine at the Plaza

•Alfresco Friday

•El Paso Chihuahuas game

•Emily Bell at Tricky Falls

"Every now and then there's a weekend where so much is going on in downtown," said Ryan Lympus, assistant general manager of El Paso Live.

To avoid the hassle of finding a space, Lympus has made a couple of suggestions. "Maybe come early, go to Alfresco Friday or come early and grab dinner at one of the great downtown restaurants," said Lympus.

El Paso Live manages three different parking garages with 1,500 spaces in total.

This includes the El Paso Convention Center garage and the Union Plaza Transit Terminal garage, as well as the Anthony Lot.

Spaces in these lots cost $10.

Lympus said there is plenty of parking in the downtown area. There are nine garages and 25 lots for downtown visitors. You may have to walk three or four blocks to your event, but it’s not impossible.

El Paso Live suggests avoiding parking altogether.

"Sometimes we suggest, just Uber or taxi downtown" said Lympus. "That way you don’t have to worry about parking at all."

Parking cost can just be applied to an Uber if you live near the downtown area.

If you want to plan ahead, take a look at the map on the Downtown Management District 's website to see parking options.
