Teens charged after setting off firework inside Cielo Vista Mall, police say
EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) —
Two teens are facing criminal charges after they allegedly set off a firework inside Cielo Vista Mall.
Gabriel Sebastian Gonzalez, 17, and a 15-year-old boy were charged with criminal mischief over $2,500 and less than $30,000.
The two are accused of setting off an aerial firework inside Cielo Vista Mall, causing $13,000 worth of damage.
Video from the incident was uploaded to YouTube but it was removed soon after. The video showed teens lighting a firework inside a backpack in the foyer area outside the women’s clothing store Dillard’s.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. Saturday.
The two were arrested Thursday. Gonzalez was booked into the county jail on a $10,000 bail and bonded out the same day.
The teen was taken into custody by the juvenile probation department.
