UTEP leads discussion about border relations

Border relations is a topic that has been heavily discussed since the election of President Donald Trump.

On Presidents' Day, UTEP will host the Border Relations in the era of Trump: a Mexican perspective discussion.

A topic that, in the last week has become especially concerning for some living in the U.S.

Some El Pasoans are also concerned that Trump is ramping up enforcement.

In a recent sting, ICE arrested close to 700 people across the country.

Locally, 28 people were arrested in Las Cruces.

And recently, an undocumented immigrant woman went to court to get a restraining order on her partner and was detained by ice agents inside the courthouse shortly after her hearing.

The panel will hold a discussion in hopes of getting a better understanding on today's issues.

It will be at the Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center, UTEP.

It will be held from 12 to 1:30 pm.
