Walking for law enforcement stops in El Paso

Carry the Load

In preparation for Memorial Day, tens of thousands of people are walking across the country, carrying the load of military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving our country.

The march “Carry The Load” honors heroes all month long with its National Relay.

"Anyone is welcome to join as long as they can answer the question who are you carrying?" says John John Driscoll, Carry The Load's National Relay Manager.

The 31-day, 6,200-mile National Relay is comprised of a 2,100-mile East Coast route from West Point, NY to Dallas and a 4,100-mile West Coast route from Seattle to Dallas.

Carry The Load will be stopping in El Paso during its National Relay Friday.

"This year we have the blessing of taking the relay through the National Cemetery," said a participant of the walk.

The walk started at 8 a.m. at the El Paso Police Department at 911 N. Raynor Street in central El Paso.
