Woman accused of trying to leave Las Cruces Walmart with $600 in goods

A Mimbres Valley woman accused of trying to take $600 worth of merchandise from a Las Cruces Walmart was arrested Sunday.

Loss prevention employees at the Walmart on Rinconada Boulevard told police officers about 3 p.m. that Samantha Grijalva was seen shoplifting on surveillance cameras, police said.

Grijalva bought a small plastic bin and left the store, police said.

She later re-entered, left the bin and picked up a much larger plastic bin, police said. She then filled it with new clothes before a loss prevention officer stopped her from trying to leave the store, police said.

Police said the 24-year-old woman had loaded $640.40 worth of merchandise into the bin.

She was booked into the county jail on one count of larceny and she posted bail the next day.
