YISD appoints principal for new Del Valle Middle School
EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) —
A principal has been appointed for the new Del Valle Middle School that is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019.
Ida Perales was chosen as the principal of the new K-8 combination school that is currently under construction, a Ysleta Independent School spokesperson said.
Perales is currently the principal at Camino Real Middle School, a position she began last summer.
Her career in education began in 2001 as a biology teacher at Ysleta High School. She later worked in the El Paso and Socorro school districts for six years. Perales then returned to Ysleta High School to serve as an instructional specialist and assistant principal.
She has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from UTEP, YISD officials said.
Construction for the new Del Valle Middle School began last year. The $87 million school will share the K-8 campus with a new Mission Valley Elementary School. Del Valley Middle School will share a kitchen, fine arts facilities, and a gymnasium with Mission Valley, but each campus will have separate entrances, classrooms, offices, and cafeterias, according to YISD officials.
The new school will accommodate up to 1,500 students.
