Man accused of plotting explosions at multiple Target stores to make company stock fall

State and federal authorities say a man is accused of plotting to blow up at least 10 Target stores from Florida to New York.

Authorities arrested Mark Barnett after he was turned in by an accomplice.

Officials say Barnett recruited a person to plant 10 explosive devices as food packaging on the shelves of Target stores.

Police say Barnett wanted to make Target stocks drop so he could buy cheap shares and make money when values rose again.

"The arrest in this case demonstrates the importance of collaboration in keeping our communities safe,” said FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen.

Prosecutors say the bombs could have caused serious injury and property damage.
