WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - One person is in stable condition after being shot on Fort Carson, according to a statement released by the Colorado Army base Thursday.

Rumors surfaced on social media about a possible active shooter situation after a lockdown was put into place. But Fort Carson officials have confirmed that no active shooter situation is taking place.

The Army base still advises everyone in the area to shelter in place while the shooting is investigated.

This incident comes a day after a mistaken report of a shooter at Travis Air Force Base in northern California.
