Woman accused of injuring EPPD officer in drunken crash pleads not guilty

A woman charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a December crash that injured an El Paso police officer has waived her arraignment hearing.

When a person waives their arraignment they are entering an initial plea of not guilty.

Sherry Rodriguez is accused of crashing into a police vehicle that hit Officer Andres Rodriguez in December.

Dashcam footage shows the officer conducting a sobriety test on another suspected drunken driver before the crash.

Court documents say Rodriguez "recklessly caused bodily injury" to Rodriguez.

Rodriguez pleaded not guilty last month to an initial charge of driving while intoxicated.
