Aaron Jones declares for the 2017 NFL draft

UTEP running back, Aaron Jones, declared for the 2017 NFL draft at a press conference Saturday.

Goodbye 4,760 yards. Adios 40 td's. So long 300+ yard performances, and hello NFL

Jones says he’s accomplished all he can short of a conference championship at UTEP, so the junior running back and El Paso home-grown talent announced he will forgo his senior season to test the waters of the draft.

It was a very emotional day for Jones and his family, be it football or otherwise, so you'd think Jones' draft grade came back very encouraging.

Actually, quite the opposite happened.

The results suggested Jones should stay in college one more year, but coach Sean Kugler and Aaron's agent Leigh Steinberg believe the time is now.

Steinberg will represent Jones alongside Chris Cabott. They call Aaron “A home-run threat every time he touches the ball,” and compare his qualities to those of Warrick Dunn and/or Ricky Williams, a couple of former repeat NFL Pro-Bowl selections.

Jones leaves Wednesday to start training at Exos in Carlsbad, California.
