El Dorado QB Barfield taken #1 in first ever Senior All-Star Draft!
EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) -- Coach Brooks took a chance on Texas' top 6A quarterback (total yards) by drafting El Dorado's Cedarious Barfield with the first ever pick in the Greater El Paso Senior Showcase Draft. Barfield suffered a knee injury on the second play of a playoff game that was bad enough to prevent him from returning to the game, but Barfield said, "I think I'll be alright but we'll get it checked out on Monday just to be sure."
The state's top 6A passing QB, Andrew Fernandez (Montwood), was taken with the second overall pick while his teammate Tyrese Andrus, a superstar wide receiver, was selected third overall.
"Good luck!" Andrus said tauntingly when asked if he'd have any words for Fernandez on game day.
The 26th senior all-star game will be played in the Sun Bowl on December 16 at 1:05 pm. Tickets are $6 if bought in advance; $8 at the gate (kids 6-under get in FREE). You can purchase yours at any area high school after December 1st, or download the free GEPFS mobile app.
