New Mexico State University announced Monday that former Wichita State associate head coach Chris Jans will be the new head coach for the Aggie men's basketball team.

Jans was an assistant at Wichita State from 2007-2014 before taking the head job at Bowling Green. He was fired from there after admitting to acting inappropriately at a local bar.

NMSU acted quickly after Paul Weir left the Aggies last week to become the new head coach at rival New Mexico.
