Wake up bright and early with the always smiling Jessie McDonough on the brand new CBS4 Daybreak. She anchors and delivers El Paso's biggest news stories as soon as you wake up to help you get your day started. Then watch her again on CBS4 at Noon.
Jessie traded in the beach for Sun City's beautiful hiking trails and lack of humidity. She jokes her hair is much better in this weather! Before CBS4, she was a reporter on the morning show for CBS47/FOX30 in Jacksonville Florida, so she is used to waking up early! In Jacksonville, Jessie covered some heart-wrenching stories that garnered national attention such as a grandfather who murdered his daughter and her six children before turning the gun on himself. She spent her mornings chasing the city's breaking news stories, turning tight deadlines, and warning beachgoers of strong rip-tides. She even covered a tornado that leveled part of a horse ranch.
It hasn't always been sunny skies for Jessie, before Jacksonville, she reported and anchored in South Bend, Indiana. In the home of the Hoosiers, she covered multiple plane crashes, murders and more than a foot of snow in freezing temperatures. There she worked as an advocate for the people of Notre Dame Country. Through her reporting, she helped an elderly woman get the city to pay for flooding damage they caused to her home during a construction project. She helped one father get the word out about his daughter's murder so that tips would come into police to help them catch the killer. She also told the heartbreaking story of a mother whose seven-year-old daughter was shot to death during a home invasion.
Jessie bleeds black and gold, she was born and raised in Pittsburgh, P.A. and waves her Steeler's terrible towel proudly! However she is thrilled to be back out west! She graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University and visits her fellow Sun Devils quite frequently.
On her off days, Jessie loves cooking and she works out to combat her sweet tooth. She never turns down a chocolate chip cookie! Her go to dishes to make are spaghetti squash casserole, chicken rollatini and chicken enchiladas. She loves cooking for other people because in her family, that's how they show love! If Jessie could spend time with anyone it would be her mom and grandma. She talks to them on the phone daily.
Jessie is always up for an adventure! She has been skydiving and isn't afraid of too much! She can't wait to check out everything exciting El Paso has to offer!
