EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) — They're calling it a one stop shop for getting the kids back to school!
Moms on Board (MOB), a local nonprofit, is hosting its signature Back to School Event, brought to you by the YMCA.
The event will take place at the Ascarate Park Pavilion from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.
Join MOB for free haircuts, COVID-19 vaccines, backpacks, sports physicals, school supplies and more! Each giveaway is sponsored by a local organization.
"The whole community came together to make sure El Paso is ready to get back to school within the next few weeks," said MOB Executive Director, Adrianne Moody.
In addition to all the goodies, there will be plenty of fun, including a STEM Zone, where kids can participate in interactive learning activities and a Kids Zone. It'll be completed with music, arts and crafts and visits from Chico of the El Paso Chihuahuas and Ozzy of the El Paso Locomotive FC.
The entire event is free!
MOB is also partnering with the El Paso Downton Lions Club for a uniform swap.
Earlier this week, parents had the opportunity to drop off gently used school uniforms for a voucher. On Saturday, they'll be able to exchange that voucher for clothing items needed for their children.
"We're going to sort the uniforms by different sizes, boys, girls, colors. You come by and say, "I need girls size 12 pants." We get you that stack and you pick out what you want," said Susan Driscoll, the past president of the Lions Club.
If you missed drop-off opportunities this week, don't fret. Driscoll said to bring gently used items to the swap on Saturday, and they'll do their best to accommodate your needs.
