Race set for Monday to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

If you have the day off, reflect on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday recognized by the nation, said YWCA coordinator Kayla Suarez.

The public is invited to take part in physical activity to talk about eliminating racism.

Participants can register to run the 5K, 10K or the 1-mile family fun walk.

The race begins at 9 a.m. Monday at 4400 Boy Scout Lane.

Participants can register at or in person at any Up and Running location.

The east location is at 1475 George Dieter and the westside location is at 3233 N. Mesa Street.

Race day registration will begin at 7:30 am. Early registration is $20 and $15 for military members, students and groups of 10 or more.

Registration cost increases to $25 and $20 for military, students and groups the day of the race.

Registration fees include a T-shirt and post-race pancake breakfast.
