Thousands of luminarias to light up NMSU campus
New Mexico State University is lighting up its campus starting Sunday.
The university will be illuminated from 6 to 9 p.m.
More than 6,000 luminarias will light up campus during the 33rd annual “Noche de Luminarias” event at the Corbett Center Student Union. Translated, “Noche de Luminarias” means “Night of the Lights.”
The attraction is one of the largest luminaria displays in New Mexico. These candle-lit bags will begin their journey at the Educational Services Building, continue along International Mall, surround Corbett Center Student Union, extend to Barnes & Noble and line McFie Circle. The display will be set up by the Las Cruces High School band.
Along with the display of luminarias, there will be activities and entertainment held inside Corbett Center's first floor on the facility's west end. Visitors can enjoy trolley rides -- sponsored by Frontier Adventures -- along the McFie Circle portion of the luminaria route and free refreshments inside Corbett Center.
“Noche De Luminarias” is sponsored by Campus Activities, Corbett Center, ASNMSU, Auxiliary Services and Barnes & Noble at NMSU.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information call Campus Activities at 575-646-3200.
