YISD Pre-K enrollment underway

Ysleta Indpendent School District

The process to enroll for Ysleta ISD pre-kindergarten classes is open for the 2018-2019 school year.

The Ysleta Pre-K Center is one of two pre-K only schools in the district.

"It's a very strong foundation for the future of our children," principal Sandra Perez said. "It's where we just build the love for just loving education in general."

Perez said the school has about 720 students this year, a drop from about 810 students last school year. The school's enrollment typically fluctuates between 760 and 820 students, according to Perez.

"Every 4-year-old deserves to be a part of such a beautiful building," Perez said. We have a lot of parents who drive from long distances."

Perez and district officials hope they can increase pre-kindergarten enrollment across the district by reminding the community that it's a free program.

"I can tell you we've had an increase in numbers so far," Cecelia Serna, Ysleta ISD's instruction specialist for early childhood, said. "We added some sections last year and I think this year it'll continue on. Our pre-registration looks really good and really strong."

Parents can register their children for Ysleta ISD pre-kindergarten classes on this website April 16-20.
