U.S. Senate candidates take to social media looking ahead to election
Unofficial poll results show that Ted Cruz and Beto O'Rourke will battle it out for the U.S. Senate this November.
Both Sen. Ted Cruz and U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke beat out their opponents in votes Tuesday night.
Now they’ll prepare for a highly anticipated election this fall.
It didn’t take long for Cruz to send a direct message to his opponent.
As numbers were still rolling in overnight, Cruz tweeted out a song with the hashtag “keep Texas red”.
The tweet was a first listen to his 60-second statewide radio ad that Cruz says was, “introducing our liberal opponent, congressman Robert O’Rourke, to Texas voters.”
At around the same time, O’Rourke also took to social media by engaging with his audiences by posting a Facebook live video.
O’Rourke said in that live stream, “We’ve been able to do some extraordinary things in El Paso together and would love to bring that and what we’re focused on the big ambitious things that we know we can do in the state”.
O’Rourke says over the next 8 months he will visit with Texans wherever they are, without regard to party and geography.
As for Cruz, he has yet to share what plans he has for the next chapter.
