A technical college with locations nationwide, including in El Paso announced its closing.

Some students that attend Brightwood College in the Lower Valley notified KFOX14/CBS4 about the notice they received Wednesday.

A memo to students states its parent company Education Corporation of America announced it had to close its campuses because it lost its accreditation from the Department of Education.

The El Paso campus near Lee Trevino Drive will close its doors on Friday.

The local location offered programs to become a medical or dental assistant or a phlebotomy technician.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Brightwood College’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts were deleted.

A search of Brightwood College on Twitter indicated that students were already enrolled for the current Fall semester.

Local students that reached out to KFOX14/CBS4 want to know if they can get a refund for the tuition they paid for this current semester.

Our news crew went to the Lower Valley campus Wednesday, but no employees wanted to talk on camera about the unexpected closure.

The director of the campus said they are staying open until Friday to help students transfer their credits.
