Crash closes George Dieter for several hours Sunday morning

A two-vehicle collision closed northbound and southbound lanes on George Dieter Drive Sunday morning, the El Paso Police Department said via Twitter.

The crash happened near George Dieter Drive and Ed Merrins Drive at 1:10 a.m.

Police said four people suffered serious injuries, and another person suffered minor injuries.

Police said the crash happened when a 1998 Ford Explorer, traveling east on Ed Merrins Drive crossing George Dieter Drive was struck by a 2015 Audi that was headed south on George Dieter.

George Dieter Drive was closed for several hours Sunday but was reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
