The El Paso Jazz Girls are celebrating their 5th anniversary this year.

They will host two events this summer that will be open and free for the public.

The Founder and Director of El Paso Jazz Girls, Amanda Ekery founded the group after she noticed a lack of female representation in the Jazz community.

"El Paso Jazz Girls started back in 2018 after I learned that only 7 girls in the last decade made Texas All-State Jazz band and that mirrors professional bands like Jazz Lincoln Center that have had zero women in their band since its inception and I wanted to help change those demographics starting here with my hometown," Ekery said.
