EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Pasoan Laneah Bryan is helping El Paso get recognition on a national stage after she was selected to play on Team USA's flag football team.
Bryan says, "I am super excited to be able to represent the United States in Flag Football".
Bryan added, "Especially women's flag football, just showing these younger girls that if you want to play football there is the opportunity there to play that sport."
On Saturday the draft competition tournament was held where individuals sign up and then captains pick teams.
Bryan became involved in the sport by competing in events like the one held today.
The event was held at Burning Mesquite Park located in far east El Paso.
The next step for the teams is to head to camp.
Two teams are put into camps where they will prepare for the summer tournament.
Bryan is hoping that Flag Football may be an Olympic Sport just in time for the games in 2028.
