El Paso Streetcars to start running on tracks for public use Friday; see guide
When can the public ride?
The public will be able to ride starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9.
How much is the fare?
The service will be free on grand opening weekend (Nov. 9, 10 & 11) and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Jan. 6.
Monday through Thursday Streetcar fares will be $1.50
Where can I board a streetcar?
During grand opening weekend, the Streetcars will only service six stops
Santa Fe at Fourth
Franklin at El Paso
Stanton at Cincinnati
Glory Road Transfer Center
Oregon at Missouri
Kansas at Mills
Beginning Monday the El Paso Streetcar will service all 27 stops along its 4.8 mile route along the Downtown and Uptown loops.
The El Paso Streetcar route highlights all the wonderful things that make El Paso downtown and uptown a unique place to visit. The 4.8 mile-route will run in two loops through El Paso’s uptown and downtown areas. Both loops will interconnect through a single-tracked corridor an international bridge, an array of businesses, restaurants, government buildings, convention center, downtown ballpark, and the University of Texas at El Paso among many other prominent locations.
The El Paso Streetcar amenities feature
Seating for approximately 35 people and additional space for standing riders
Upgrades for safety
Streetcar branding along the route and signage at designated stops
Pavement, sidewalk and driveway improvements at designated stops
The El Paso Streetcar encourages you to be streetcar safe. STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. Here’s what you need to know when driving, walking or cycling near the streetcars, tracks and Overhead Contact System (OCS) poles.
Streetcars are extremely quiet and use warning bells and horns.
Streetcars cannot move off the tracks to avoid obstacles and cannot make abrupt stops in traffic.
Cyclists will need to cross rails at 90 degree angle.
Pedestrians should use designated crosswalks throughout the route.
