El Paso Times executive editor steps down to avoid layoffs
The longtime executive editor of the El Paso Times is stepping down.
Bob Moore made the decision to step aside to help save reporter positions.
Moore was reportedly asked to make payroll cuts at the Times, which has resulted in the loss of several positions this year.
Instead, he decided to resign to avoid employee layoffs. Moore has been in the journalism field for 34 years.
"It made the most sense to me to eliminate what's really the most expensive position in the newsroom, which is my position. Doing so allowed us to keep a few more reporters employed here doing the work that's really important for El Paso," Moore said.
Moore’s final day is on Oct. 6.
