EPPD: Gang-related aggravated assault cases up from last year
The number of gang-related aggravated assault cases has increased since last year, according to the El Paso Police Department.
Aggravated assaults this year have reached 66 for the month of September compared to 42 in the same month last year.
The total amount of calls related to gang-related aggravated assaults this month is 71, compared to 49 during the same period last year.
The department has also seen an increase in total gang cases from 256 last year to 536 as of September 2017.

So far this year, officers have arrested and charged 435 people with gang-related crimes, according to an EPPD spokesman.
