People enjoying the outdoors despite windy conditions

Some people were outdoors enjoying their day off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

From playing on the playground to skating at High Ridge Park the weather was fairly nice just before a wind advisory went into effect at 11 a.m.

Lizeth Veda had the day off and decided to bring her kids to the park. But she says she planned ahead because she know it was going to get gusty. “It’s gets a lot of dust and so that’s why we tried to do it earlier.”

Another mother agreed. Sara Soleto said she wishes the weather would stay nice all day. “I thought we’d come in the morning because I checked the weather app and saw it was going to get gusty.”

El Paso, Dona Ana, Luna and Otero counties are under a wind advisory on Monday. The advisory is expected to be lifted at 10 p.m.

Meteorologist Sandra Diaz says a storm system passing by north of the Borderland will make for stronger wind gusts.

She said cooler weather will follow on Tuesday.

El Paso is expected to reach around 71 degrees Monday.

"I like it, it feels nice, like I feel cooled off." said an El Pasoan.

"It's my least favorite weather. I usually just stay indoors. I hate the dirt, I hate having to put my hair up, everything gets messed up," said an El Pasoan.

We are going to be under the Wind Advisory until 10 p.m. tonight.
