Fenenbock officially announces bid for Congress
Dori Fenenbock, former EPISD president and trustee, has officially announced her bid for 16th Congressional District seat currently held by Congressman Beto O’Rourke.
Fenenbock announced her run Saturday in front of supporters at the 5 Points Bistro restaurant.
“The discord and polarization in politics is at an all-time high,” Fenenbock said. “We are seeing this in Washington, in our state Capitol, and sadly, we’re saying it right here at home,” she added.
Fenenbock’s announcement comes weeks after resigning from her position on the El Paso Independent School District board of trustees on Aug. 25.
Fenenbock joins a list of Democrats who have also announced their bids, including Nichole LeClaire, Enrique Garcia Jr., John Carrillo, and, most notably, County Judge Veronica Escobar, who announced her run for Congress on August 26.
O’Rourke has announced that he will not seek re-election for his House of Representatives seat. He is instead running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Ted Cruz.
