El Paso firefighters responded to a fire in the Lower Valley early Saturday morning.

When crews arrived at the scene, they said they could see flames and smoke coming from a single-story house.

The majority of the house was destroyed, according to the fire department.

A neighbor said an elderly woman lives in the home.

"Thank God the fire didn't spread," neighbor Marta Rascon said. "I wish she's okay, but I don't know."

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

The damage is estimated at $60,000.
