A man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl multiple times over the course of several years was arrested by the Las Cruces Police Department Tuesday night.

Rogelio “Roger” Perez Montoya, 38, is charged with 56 first-degree felony counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13, four second-degree felony counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor unclothed, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Las Cruces police learned of allegations made by a teen girl on May 18. She claimed that Montoya, who is known to the girl’s family, had been sexually assaulting her since she was 8 years old. Detectives investigated the allegations and found corroborating evidence that verified her claims.

According to arrest affidavit, Montoya would also show the victim porn.

The victim told detectives she had taken some of photos of him touching her in some incidents and turned those photos over to police, according to the arrest affidavit.

Montoya was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and is being held without bond.

He was arrested at the 1900 block of Connie Lou Dr., two blocks away from Loma Heights Elementary School.

Investigators believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone who has additional information is asked to call police at 575-526-0795.
