LAS CRUCES, N.M. (CBS4) —
A woman was arrested and charged with DWI and two counts of child abuse for allegedly driving while intoxicated with two minors inside the vehicle, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.
Police learned that 35-year-old Rosalia Rodriguez of Odessa, left a home on Wednesday around 3:30 a.m. and was possibly driving drunk in a white Jeep Cherokee.
Officers saw the vehicle matching the description driving west on University Avenue.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and when he approached the vehicle, he smelled alcohol from the driver, according to Dan Trujillo, the spokesman for the Las Cruces Police Department.
Rodriguez had her 12-year-old son and her ex-boyfriend's 16-year-old son in the vehicle.
A sobriety test was performed on Rodriguez and the results showed she was intoxicated, said Trujillo.
Rodriguez was driving without insurance and without a valid driver's license.
Rodriguez was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where she is being held without bond.
Rodriguez is being charged with two third-degree felony counts and a misdemeanor count for driving while intoxicated.
