Local hospital kicking off Childhood Cancer Awareness month with celebration

El Paso Children's Hospital is showing children facing cancer just how brave they can be by kicking off Childhood Cancer Awareness month throughout El Paso.

The hospital is challenging the El Paso community to go "Gold 4 Childhood Cancer" to raise awareness.

It's hosting a celebration for doctors, staff, and of course families from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

According to, every day, 43 children, averaging 6 years old are diagnosed with cancer.

It affects kids in all ethnic, gender and socio-economic groups.

The Texas Department of Transportation is also joining the challenge by shining lights in gold in Downtown El Paso
