Man, 18, arrested for robbing man at gunpoint during an online arranged sale of phone
Police officers with the El Paso Police Department said they arrested an 18-year-old man accused of robbing another man during an exchange after an online sale of a cellphone.
The robbery happened at the 1000 block of Cliff Drive in central El Paso this week.
Police said when they arrived at the scene they found the victim was robbed of his money at gunpoint.
The victim told police that he wanted to buy a cellphone from a seller identified as Tyler Selles on “Let It Go.”
The victim met with Selles outside the victim’s home, according to police.
When the victim gave the payment to Selles, Selles allegedly demanded the return of the phone.
Police in northeast El Paso stopped Selles during a traffic stop and found him in possession of a handgun and the cellphone that was reported stolen.
Selles was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility is being charged with one count of robbery. He is also being charged with two criminal warrants for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
